Commemorative
Monument Memorial To Henry Bell. A stone obelisk erected in 1839 - a memorial to engineer Henry Bell - stands within the grounds of Dunglass Castle, on a rocky promontory on the north bank of the River Clyde. Henry Bell designed the paddle steamer Comet, launched in 1812 to provide the first regular steamship service on the Clyde. |
